S/2002 J1 Jupiter Satellite Movie Images
.
These figures show the discovery images of Jupiter satellite S/2002 J1
taken about 30 minutes apart on UT October 31, 2002. The motion of
the satellite clearly stands out compared to the steady state
background of stars and galaxies. The stars and galaxies appear
slightly elongated because the telescope's motion was tracked near the
rate of the satellite's motion. Jupiter is not in the field, but is a
few degrees to the West of these images. Click on the images to see
them without the arrows.
