University of Hawaii 2.2-meter telescope Proposal Information

Maintained by Colin Aspin - 2011

The UH Observing Time Request Form (which takes the form of a research proposal) is used for applications for observing time on the 2.2-meter telescope, and also for Keck, CFHT, UKIRT, JCMT, CSO and SMA. The observing time request form is most easily completed using the LaTeX format blank form.

Visiting observers must e-mail Colin Aspin (caa at ifa.hawaii.edu) at least a month in advance of their observing run with information regarding HP reservations, UH vehicle requirements, and any other logistical needs.

The telescope is scheduled in six-month semesters. The scheduling periods and deadlines are:

    Deadline Period
    October 1 February-July
    April 1 August-January

The telescope may be operated remotely from Hilo, Manoa, or, in some case, your own Institute. This is the preferred method of observing.

On-site observers at the 2.2-meter telescope must stay at Hale Pohaku while observing, and also acclimatize at Hale Pohaku for one night before the start of their observing run.
