Hale Pokahu room priority list
The University of Hawaii is entitled to use 6 rooms at Hale Pohaku at
the standard rate (presently $90 per night). Whenever we occupy
more than 6 rooms, additional charges are incurred. The
additional charges increase for each additional room we occupy.
The additional charges are:
- 7th room - $38.00
- 8th room - $42.80
- 9th room - $50.00
- 10th room - $61.60
- 11th and all additional rooms - $73.00
We have developed the following priority list for cases when we go
beyond an occupancy of 6. This list establishes the order of
entitlement to the standard rate rooms, and the order in which the
additional charges will be imposed.

- 0.6-meter observer #1
- 2.2-meter acclimatizing #1
- 2.2-meter acclimatizing #2

- other 2.2-meter telescope support staff
- other UH/RCUH personnel working on UH telescopes
- UH/RCUH personnel working elsewhere
- non-UH personnel observing on UH telescopes
- non-UH personnel acclimatizing for UH telescopes
- non-UH personnel working elsewhere
Note that categories 8 through 13 can each contain multiple people,
and that each person in a particular category has higher priority than
people in lower categories.
This priority list guarantees that two observers on the 2.2-meter
telescope are entitled to HP rooms at the standard rate. Surcharges
are likely when observing teams exceed 2 persons.
