Young T Tauri stars images: Solar systems in formation

HL Tauri

HLTau 24 Ko, Jpeg

This is a 3 color image of the young star HL Tau. For more detail click on the image. You can read more about HL Tau and its circumstellar disk in Close et al. Astrophysical journal 487, p766 1997.

GG Tauri GGTauJ 59 Ko, Gif GGTauH 46 Ko, Gif GGTauK 30 Ko, Gif

These are three UHAO images taken of the 0.25" binary GG Tau. Note that these are the first images of a young binary clearing the inner part of its circumstellar disk producing a circumbinary disk. This is thought to be a common and important part of the process in which a young star dissipates the circumstellar material around it.See Roddier et al (1996, ApJ 463,326) for more details.

UY Aur UY AUR 13 Ko, jpg UY AUR 2 6 Ko, jpg

These are two UHAO images taken of the 0.88" TTauri binary UY Aur. Note that these are the next images of a young binary clearing the inner part of its circumstellar disk producing a circumbinary disk. This is thought to be a common and important part of the process in which a young star dissipates the circumstellar material around it. See Close et al (1998, ApJ 499, June 1) for more details.
