Abstract:

    The presentation will be an overview and background of the IDA, including IDA's philosophy on good lighting and what differentiates good from bad. We will discuss the issues of light pollution and the benefits of good lighting. Jim Benya will discuss the new Model Lighting Ordinance being developed by the IDA MLO working group.

Scott Davis is the Technical Manager for the International Dark-Sky Association in Tucson, AZ and is a member of the IESNA & CIE. Prior to joining IDA in February 20002, he was the Senior Marketing Coordinator for GE Lighting Systems where he was in charge of the GELS training institute, including organizing and hosting the training seminars, maintaining the center with state of the art equipment, and was responsible for the outdoor lighting demonstrations and factory tours. He has a BA in Biology, from University of North Carolina at Asheville, graduating in 1993.He is a native of Asheville, NC
