Cooling Flows: Rumours of death much exaggerated Alastair Edge University of Durham, U.K. The great advances in X-ray observations in the past two years with Chandra and XMM-Newton have lead to some sweeping conclusions about cooling flows. Using these results combined with recent optical, infrared and sub-mm observations, it is possible that a solution to the long-running debate over the fate of the cooling gas can be found.
