Title: Exoplanets: From Jupiters to Super-Earths Geoff Marcy U.C. Berkeley Abstract: The measured masses and orbits of the 175 known exoplanets within 200 pc provide constraints on the formation and dynamics of planetary systems. A new domain of planets from 1-15 Earth masses, not represented in our Solar System, is becoming accessible observationally. Several planets under 20 Earth-masses have recently been detected. The formation and internal structures of rock and rock-ice planets are being modeled. Construction has begun of a 2.4-m "Automated Planet Finder" telescope at Lick Obs. that will be dedicated to detecting Super-Earths.
