Peter Michaud Bishop Museum Exploring the Universe in Today's Planetaria The Skies the Limit In this presentation, Bishop Museum Planetarium Manager, Peter Michaud will discuss the technology, capabilities and potential of modern planetaria. Special emphasis will be given to the educational and outreach possibilities that are possible by forging partnerships with local astronomical resources in Hawai`i. In addition, Bishop Museum is currently involved in an educational partnership with NASA called "The Explorers Project." From high-z galaxies, to planet forming regions around nearby stars, materials developed by this project will have a profound impact on the local and national understanding of scientific research atop Mauna Kea. An open discussion for ideas and suggestions on this project will be provided as part of this presentation. Finally, Peter will present a sneak preview of plans for a new state-of-the-art planetarium and I-Max Dome facility that will propel Bishop Museum and local science education into the next century.
