Title: Searching for the Remnants of Galaxy Formation Daniel Pisano CSIRO-ATNF, Australia Abstract: I will present the results of an HI survey for the gaseous remnants of the galaxy formation process around isolated and group galaxies. Such remnants are predicted to exist by models of hierarchical galaxy formation and may still be falling onto galaxies today. Our survey to date has found many gas-rich dwarf galaxies, but no HI clouds without stars. I will discuss how this data compare to models of galaxy formation, measurements of the HI mass function, and what they imply for the nature of high-velocity clouds
