Discussion on E-Mail Spam/Viruses and Filtering

The amount of junk e-mail received at the IfA has been increasing recently.  
Some of this junk e-mail contains viruses.  The computer section is looking 
into the possibility of installing a filter.  Such a filter will reduce the 
amount of junk mail and viruses, but could also cause the loss of some 
non-junk messages.  I would like to take this opportunity to answer some 
general questions on junk e-mail and to have a discussion on an e-mail 
strategy for the IfA
