Ttile: The Small-Scale Velocity Dispersion of Galaxies Speaker: Michael A. Strauss (Princeton) Galaxies do not follow the Hubble Law exactly; peculiar velocities are the deviations of galaxy motions from uniform expansion. On small scales (~1 Mpc), an accurate measurement of the standard deviation of galaxy peculiar velocities is an important test of cosmological theories. I will discuss recent approaches to measuring this statistic both from redshift and peculiar velocity surveys of galaxies.
