How to access the SDSS EDR and 2dF data bases by: Alex Szalay and John Peacock The full sdss EDR (Early Data Release) is available now locally in a SQL server database on a mumon.ifa.hawaii.edu. The full database is about 60GB (this does not include the raw photo-images but has all the spectra.) The basic stats are: 13.8 m photoObj, 61 k spectra of which 54 k are not QA or duplicate with about 1.7 m specLines. 2dF has about 100k public spectra, which we also have on CD available locally. Alex Szalay will give an informal lunch time talk/hands on demonstration of how to use the SDSS data base in practice. John Peacock will give a similar talk/demonstration on how to access and use the 2dF data.
