which required the use of real science and high technology
electronics and optics to achieve their goals.

Background:
Doug Trumbull has been involved in a wide variety of films and
technologies, including CLOSE ENCOUNTERS OF THE THIRD KIND, STAR TREK
THE MOTION PICTURE, BLADE RUNNER, THE ANDROMEDA STRAIN, BRAINSTORM,
SILENT RUNNING, and special projects such as BACK TO THE FUTURE - THE
RIDE, development of IMAX film systems, virtual retinal displays, and
many theme park attractions. He holds twenty patents, and is
currently developing three feature motion picture projects as well as
new technologies for stereoscopic virtual reality and advanced
amateur astronomy.
