Title: Lighthouses in the Sea of Dark Matter Brent Tully Institute for Astronomy University of Hawaii Abstract: The structure of the universe is a consequence of the distribution of dark matter. Baryonic matter, the stuff we see, constitutes only a small fraction of the density of the universe. How well does light trace the dark matter? We will first take a qualitative look at the distribution of light. Then attention will be given to evidence that there are important variations in the relationship between light and dark matter that depend on environment.
