Title: A Unique Place and a Unique Time: Revealing the Hidden Universe with Spitzer, Herschel, WISE, GALEX, Kepler, Planck and ... Astronomy's Next-Generation Observatory - TMT

Abstract: In many ways, this is a golden age of astronomy, with a suite of space telescopes currently in-flight covering the electromagnetic spectrum, and powerful new ground-based telescopes planned for the next decade. In this talk, I will highlight some results from current space telescopes with Caltech involvement - the Spitzer Space Telescope, the Herschel Space Observatory, WISE, GALEX, Kepler and Planck. In addition, I will give an overview of astronomy's next-generation observatory, the Thirty Meter Telescope, planned for operations later this decade on Mauna Kea
