This course provides an introduction to the Pan-STARRS project. The first half is devoted to the projects motivation, design, optics, instrumentation, image processing software, and moving object software. The presentation is intended to provide insight into the planing and execution of a major astronomical project and the collaborative nature of `big science' as well as specific information of the Pan-STARRS project itself for a potential user of Pan-STARRS or other large survey data products. The second half is devoted to a handful of specific scientific projects anticipated for the project. These cover a range of science programs from solar system science to cosmology and serve as broad introduction to modern astronomical synoptic survey science.
