Astronomy 240: Foundations of astronomy
Astronomy
240 is an introductory course in astronomy designed specifically
for students who enjoy science. The course has prerequisites of
one college physics course (Physics 151 or 170).
The course is a survey of current astronomy,
including the Solar System, stars, galaxies and the Universe as
a whole. The course differs from Astronomy
110 in that there is more emphasis on the applications of physical
ideas and simple mathematical tools as an aid to understanding the
universe.
The course satisfies the physical sciences core
requirement, but as a 200-level course with a college-level prerequisite
it can alternatively count for upper level credit.
Credit cannot be received for both Astronomy 110 and Astronomy
240
At the current time this course is not being regularly scheduled.
