Travel Advice
Getting to Waikoloa
Waikoloa is on the western coast of the island of Hawaii, which is sometimes referred to as the "Big Island."
The hotel is served by Keahole-Kona International Airport (code KOA), about 18 miles to the south. There are direct flights between Kona-Keahole airport and several mainland cities, plus regular services to Honolulu (code HNL) on the island of Oahu, about 35 minutes flying time away.
Hilo International Airport (code ITO) is on the eastern side of the Big Island, about 75 miles away. There is no public transportation between Hilo and Waikoloa, so this option is only practical for people who rent a car.
Getting to the hotel
A taxi from the Kona Airport to the Waikoloa Beach Marriott will cost about 50 dollars; we would encourage participants who arrive on the same flight to share a taxi.
Visa Requirements
Because of security procedures, applications for visas to visit the U.S.
may take longer to process than in the past. We recommend applying for a
visa as early as possible (at least 3 months before the visa is needed).
It may take even longer for citizens of a few countries. Please check with
your local U.S. consulate or embassy to make sure that you apply early
enough to avoid any problems.
