Mauna Kea Observatories viewed from the East
From an altitude of about 13,800 feet (level with the summit, seen on
the left of this photo), the Keck telescopes are hidden by the summit
ridge. The Gemini northern 8-meter telescope dome is the largest
structure from this perspective. In the distance is Haleakala, on the
island of Maui.
