Manny Mattos - Dry Land Forest Advocate

Dry Land Forest Advocate

Manny Mattos

Local craftsman Manny Mattos explores the importance of the native dry land forests of this island and their preservation, and shares proper protocol when in these sacred areas.  A long time kalai la'au, he shares his mana'o on the native hardwoods and his practice of recreating the warrior weapons of old Hawai'i.  A rich storyteller, Manny paints a picture of ancient times, and tells of the revitalization of the practice of lua, the Polynesian art of fighting.
