"Mauna Kea - A Sense of Place"

Koa Rice shared her knowledge, passion and experience of this sacred mountain - Mauna Kea, to the packed audience at Cultural Night, July 17, 2010. Guided by the belief that knowing our sense of place, and respecting and nurturing what has been given to us is of the utmost importance. Koa shared photos and meaning of the many cultural sites on this mountain, and stories of astronomy and science throughout the history of Hawai'i, leading up  to what is happening on the mountain today.

The beauty of her stories and her experience of this powerful mountain were enjoyed by the visitors to The Onizuka Center for International Astronomy.   Mahalo, mahalo, mahalo!
