Transit of Venus

Venus transitted the Sun for the last time for the next 105 years.

Transits of Venus are extremely rare, happening in pairs 8 years apart separated by over a hundred years in between. Only six transits of Venus have ever been observed since the develoment of the telescope, and we were joined on June 5, 2012 by thousands of people who can now claim to have seen one. The next transit will not take place until December 2117, over 105 years from now! The transit began at 12:10:09 PM and lasted until 6:44:31 PM Hawaii Standard Time.
