Road Conditions and Poor Weather

At any time, the road to the summit of Mauna Kea may be closed due to unsafe weather conditions. This includes snow storms and hurricane strength winds. To hear current conditions on the summit, you can call (808) 935-6268 to listen to a recording left by the Mauna Kea Rangers. This report is updated everyday, and then throughout the day if conditions change significantly. Also, the road conditions web page is updated within 30 minutes of a change in the status of the road
