Introduction Search Fields Author Controlled Index Numerical Chemical Astronomical Tutorials
Do you use only ADS? Have you heard of the database INSPEC? In addition to coverage of Electrical Engineering, Control Engineering, and Computers, INSPEC also covers Physics including both Astronomy and Astrophysics. Beginning from 1969, INSPEC has almost 10 million records, almost twice as many as ADS. INSPEC covers 3850+ journal titles and also includes coverage of more than 2200 conference proceedings, and other sources such as books, reports and dissertations. Major journals in astronomy are found in INSPEC along with many European journals on the topic.
INSPEC features special search fields including a numerical data search, which allows you to search by Stellar Mass, Galactic Distance and much more. A Chemical search allows to search by the chemical formula, such as Li or FeS. An astronomical object search is also available. All of these Search fields will help to increase the ease and precision of your search, and as an added bonus the indexing is done by people, with a subject specialty, rather than computers, which insures consistency.
An additional benefit to using INSPEC via Web of Knowledge (WoK) is the easy to use interface, and once you have found an article any articles citing and cited by that article, as well as other similar articles, are provided.
