Gary Coulter will lead this presentation on how the human body changes in space, which will be coupled with a hands-on activity. This will begin with an overall introduction to the physiological concept of sensing and adapting to changes in the external environment and how this is an important characteristic of anything that is alive. The discussion will include a list and description of some of the known effects spaceflight has on astronauts and what we are doing or are researching in an attempt to prevent the effect from occurring, minimize the effects(s) of the change, or treat the effects of the change in order to miminize impact on human efficiency and effectiveness and optimize mission success.
