| Hands-on Universe Workshops |
HOU, a project of Lawrence Hall of Science at the University of
California, is an innovative educational program of science,
mathematics, and technology education in the context of astronomical
explorations. It puts in the hands of students the same tools that
professional astronomers are using--image processing software and
images from large observatory telescopes. HOU, in collaboration with
the Third International Math and Science Study (TIMSS) project, now
seeks teachers to participate in an NSF-funded educational research
project assessing the effectiveness live workshops in relation to
distance-learning professional development strategies. Earn $300
stipend. Academic credits may be available. Registration in progress.
