Return to TOPS Main page

Mike Shanahan is the Bishop Museum Planetarium and Observatory Manager. Mike started at the Bishop Museum as Planetarium Producer in August of 1999, replacing Peter Michaud in that role. Before that Mike worked at Pacific Science Center in Seattle for 21 years, most recently as Visitor Education Manager. He started in Pacific Science Center's planetarium in 1978, and remained involved in that innovative, hands-on planetarium until he left for Honolulu.

Mike received a M.A. in English from the University of Washington in 1994. His area of study: the impact of Italian science and culture on English Renaissance literature. He continues to do graduate work in that area, with particular interest in the Galilean revolution and Jacobean blood tragedy (heck, everyone has to specialize!)
