The Space Interferometry Mission will be a space Michelson interferometer. This mission will demonstrate key technologies which will be carried over to the Terrestrial Planet Finder Mission. Like the TPF mission, the science objectives fall into the category of Origins: searching for several Earth-mass planets, imaging circumstellar disks around YSOs, and direct imaging of massive planets close to nearby stars.
