| During the fall of 1999, Mililani Teacher
Elaine Mahoney engaged her CADD class in an astronomical project to
search for ancient alignments at the Kukaniloko site on Oahu. The site
was where Hawaiian Royalty came to give birth. During the semester,
the class visited the site, and used a GPS system to make measurements
of rock alignments to ascertain if there were any significant
astronomical alignments. Two of the students, S. Kawakammi and B.
Yasuda entered their project in the TechQuest 2000 competition and won
2nd place. |
