SPECTROSCOPIC VS SED REDSHIFTS

Redshifts estimated from template fits to the nir and optical data of the H+K table are compared with the spectrosopic redshifts of the H+K table (Left panel). Also shown (right panel) is the same comparison for the SED redshifts estimated by the SUNY group (Lanzetta et al 1996 Nature (in press)) from fits to the 4 HDF colors only. The SUNY color estimated redshifts place many low redshift galaxies and stars at high redshift but the 6 color redshift estimates appear to be robust for the galaxies with measured redshifts.
