  Current events :

- Movie at 1 Dollar : check the time table

     Activities :

- Best Hikes in Oahu : trails

- Obviously : running in Manoa : Free, plenty of people to discuss with at IFA from turtle pace to super-man pace
-->  October 1st : Niketown  Honolulu : provides free training

- Manoa swimming pool : Free everyday check the time table, also :  swim competition

- Manoa Japanese school : Judo and Aikido at ridiculous price : 5$ / month aikido and maybe 15$ for the judo

-Manoa Valley District Park activities : Tai Chi, Total Fitness, sports for kids (basket-ball, volley-ball), cooking,  etc...
or free or around 25$ per semester.

- UH Manoa Leisure Center : surf boards at 15$ per week, kayaks, hula classes, hapkido classes, sailing, scuba etc...
price depends on the activities between 60$ and 230$ per semester.

- Hula (real hawaiian hula) : wednesday evening from 6:45 to 8pm for women, 8 to 9 pm for men : at the Manoa Dance studio 35$ per month,
first floor, on top of the Coffee Bean, next to the Safeway.

- DVD at 1 Dollar for one week : Manoa Library (free member card)





      Finding a flat, a bike, a surf board, a piano, cheap clothes :

- craiglist honolulu
- star classified honolulu
- Honolulu advertiser
- midweek

- Moving sales (ads on craig list, or just drive around on saturday and look for the signs), they are better than garage sale

- Aloha Flea market (cheap clothes, souvenirs, crafts, ...) wed, sat, sun 7:30 to 3pm



    Good food :

- Lindt 85% dark chocolate 2.69$ at the Longs next to IFA (not always in store)

- Farmer's market : every tuesday, thursday, sunday from 7am to 12am: in front of the post-office
behind the IFA : very good fruits and vegetables locally grown

- Cheese and Wine : Tamura Market : corner 10th avenue and Waialae

- Mediterranean food supplies : olives, fresh cheese, wine, pasta : the small shop
next to  The Olive Tree : Kahala Mall

- municipal golf 9 or 18 holes at 6 $ (instaed of 145$ for non resident, must have your complete Hawaii driving ID,
no learning driver, no state ID),  best ocean view : kahuhu (north shore) , near waikiki : Ala Wai golf,
on windward side : Pali course
- free Hanauma Bay : the best snorkeling : go beyond the first coral reef
- 35% off for Dolphin excursions,  on a catamaran
- waikiki submarine at 20$ instead of 70$,
etc....

To have these rates :

1. Make a Hawaii driving licence ASAP
or if you have a US one and a US social security number, make a State ID
or try with your costco card
or car insurance.


2. UH ID card, or RCUH ID card : also needed to rent a board at the leisure center, to have discounts at the UH bookstore etc...
