I study the interstellar and circumstellar medium using radio telescopes, in particular the SMA, JCMT, and CSO on Mauna Kea, and also the Hershel Space Observatory. and ALMA when I'm fortunate enough to be granted time. My research interests range from large scale molecular cloud structure, to clustered star formation, to protoplanetary disks. These subjects are linked by the broad goals of trying to place our solar system in context, and to reconcile astronomical observations with meteoritic constraints on our origin.
