I study the interstellar medium using radio telescopes, primarily the SMA, JCMT, and CSO on Mauna Kea. My goal is to learn more about how stars, and ultimately their accompanying planetary systems, form. The dust and molecules in star forming environments produce strong line and continuum emission at sub-millimeter wavelengths; through observations and modeling, I determine the structural, dynamical, and chemical conditions of these regions and compare with theoretical predictions. In the summer months, I run the Research Experiences for Undergraduates (REU) program.
