Participants should make their own hotel reservations as early as possible. There are very few hotels in the Manoa area, so a rental car or taxi will be required for transport between the hotel area and the IfA. We will provide a bulletin board where participants can post notices to share rental cars and taxis from the hotels. In the Waikiki area, hotel room prices depend on the size of the rooms and the view from the room. In Waikiki, affordable ($60-$140) rooms tend to be small and they may not have an ocean view. Most Waikiki Hotels were built 30-40 years ago and tend to have older furniture and carpeting. In addition to Waikiki, some affordable studios, apartments, and bed & breakfast rooms are available in Kailua, a charming town 30 minutes drive from Manoa. Kailua is home to the beautiful Kailua Beach park, and has many local and non-touristy cafes and restaurants. In addition to swimming, equipment for snorkeling, windsurfing, and kayaking are available at Kailua beach. We can arrange car-pooling from Kailua.
