DPOSS Scientific Projects

The first scientific results of this effort have already started to appear. We have used the counts of galaxies at different brightness levels over a limited area on the sky to test the models of galaxy evolution. We have also produced new and improved measurements of the large-scale structure in the universe, as probed by the clustering of faint galaxies, and started to produce a major new catalog of galaxy clusters. We have an ongoing program to discover the most distant quasars, which are valuable probes of the early universe, and to date we have found over 100 such obejcts. Many other projects are under way. Below you will find links to the homepages of some of these projects, as well as some of the scientific papers describing them.
